Antibiotics require storage in a refrigerator or freezer. Amino glycoside such as Kanamycin is hygroscopic and should be storage in a desiccators. All antibiotics should be protected from direct sunlight.

Carbenicillin  is a white to off white powder which is soluble in either water or alcohol. Carbenicillin is most effective against gram-negative bacteria but may also have some effect against gram-positive bacteria. Aqueous solutions of Carbenicillin are reported to be stable for up to 24 hours at room temperature and for up to 72 hours when stored at 2-8°C.

Cefotaxime is a white to off white powder which is freely soluble in water. Variation in color of the freshly prepared solutions does not necessarily indicate changes in potency. Store this product in an airtight container protected from light. Aqueous solutions of Cefotaxime at a ph of 4.3 to 6.2 are stable for 14-21 days when stored at 2-8°C. Cetotaxime is most effective against gram-negative bacteria.

Geneticin, G418, is commonly used as a molecular biology selection agent G418 is toxic to bacteria, yeast protozoa, as well as other organisms. G418 is water soluble and can be stored at room temperature for as long as one year. The amount of G418 required for selection will vary with each cell line.

Gentamicin Sulfate is freely soluble in water, in acidic media with salt formation of CMF. Solution of Gentamicin Sulfate should be stored at 15-30°C.

Hygromicin B is an amino glycoside antibiotic which is effective against prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms. It is commonly used as a selective agent in molecular biology studies.  Hygromycin B is water soluble and stock solutions can be stored for one year at 2-8°C.

Kanamycin is an antibiotic complex produced by Streptomyces Kanamyceticus and is composed primarily of Kanamycin A. Kanamycin is freely soluble in water and practically insoluble in alcohol or other non polar solvents. Solutions of Kanamycin should be stored at 0.5°C.
